Leave car park and turn R along West Street. At The Triangle by the post box, fork L along Sutton Road. After 200m turn L into Great Western Lane and follow as it winds through a modern housing development. After 250m do not bear L under the railway bridge, but continue ahead and follow the road as it climbs gently and bears R to pass St Cleers Chapel. At the cross-roads beyond the chapel turn L, go over the railway bridge (with care) and after 150m go L by the derestriction sign by Melbury House. After 500m at the cross-roads at Badger’s Cross, turn R and after a further 350m at the “Give Way” markings bear L to join the B3165. Follow this (with care) as it bears round a left-hand bend and up a slight rise. At the top of the rise turn R into Windyridge Lane (SP Munday’s Court Lane ½m). After 800m at the end of the tarmac go straight along driveway with hedge on L to reach a farm gate (yes, it is through the garden of the house on R). Go through the gate and continue ahead along the track for 200m and follow as it bears L and descends gently with wide views to the Quantocks, Blackdowns and over to Dorset. Beyond the plantation on R the track descends 500m, becomes a tarmac track, bears sharp R and after 250m reaches a T-junction. Turn R into Burnt House Lane and continue 100m to the end of the tarmac and a further 200m to a seat. Continue 800m as the track narrows and passes woodland on R, passes above the mouth of the railway tunnel (not visible) and reaches a junction with three metal gates. Cross the stile by the middle gate and follow 350m with hedge on L. Go through the metal gate to the left of Saints’ Bushes Plantation, then over stile and follow meandering path 200m through the woods roughly parallel to the L hedge. Emerge into field and go 200m straight across to join hedge on L then 175m heading for the tall tree slightly to L of the white painted cottage. Through a metal gate, then a wooden gate, emerge on to the busy B3153, turn R for 75m uphill, then cross (with care) to follow track between two houses (no SP). After 70m at the end of this short track, go straight ahead through Bristol gate (SP Public Footpath) then 100m to a second Bristol gate, then follow with hedge on L. After 300m, continue through a wooden gate and sleeper bridge then 500m with hedge on L to emerge at a track. Turn R and descend then ascend gently for 200m to reach tarmac surface. The road then descends gently with fine views to Glastonbury Tor and across to the Mendips and passing Westcombe Farm. After 1Km take the road on R and continue, bearing L to T‑junction. Turn R and follow Cartway Lane with care for 250m to join Langport Road. Turn L and after 50m, cross Langport Road and take Ricksey Lane, the tarmac lane opposite. After 350m go L and follow a new footpath to reach another gate. Go ahead along the tarmac road past Barley Croft and take the next L, Farm Drive. After 100m at the next junction turn L and immediately R into St Cleers. At the T-junction with St Cleers Way turn R and after 150m at staggered cross-roads turn L into Sutton Road. Follow 500m to reach The Triangle, West Street and the car park.
