"Snicket" is a local name for a (usually) narrow path between roads - sometimes old and sometimes left when new housing estates were built
Leave car park and turn L. After 200m opposite a row of shops, fork R down Pesters Lane, taking care down the first narrow section until the pavement is reached. After 300m at the end of the lay-by, go up steps on L and follow path as it bears left past the former school and reaches Kirkham Street. Turn R and continue, past the Police Station and bear L into The Millands with its pleasant green space on R. Beyond number 12, bear L along a short path to New Street, turn L and continue 200m to Cow Square. Continue to the L of the trough for 20m and beyond the last cottage, turn L to follow the path round the outside of the churchyard of St Michael’s Anglican Church to the Market Square and turn R along West Street. Pass the Methodist Church on the R and the former United Reformed Church on the L, opposite which turn R into the car park (SP Library). Continue past the library and at the top of the car park bear L, cross the bridge over the railway, and go immediately R through the kissing gate and follow the path above the railway line to a gate. Cross with care and bear slightly L to take the path alongside the cemetery for 100m then go L along path between wooden fences to emerge at the end of a cul-de-sac. Continue across the head of the cul-de-sac to path between two bungalows and at the next road go L 75m to a T-junction with Behind Berry (the main through route for Somerton). Go R for 160m then go R on path between numbers 32 and 34 to join the end of a cul-de-sac with bungalows on both sides. After 120m turn L between bungalows at right angles to the road to Walnut Drive. Bear R then immediately L by number 12, then R in a small car parking area to follow a short path (Brockle Close) to reach Etsome Terrace. Go R through metal squeeze and down the wide tarmac path to reach Beech Grove. Go L 80m and then R along Etsome Road, which becomes Cary Way, with good views on the R along the Cary valley. After 300m at No Through Road sign, turn L into Northfield past the new school and after 150m, turn L into Northfield Way. At the end continue through the squeeze into Highfield Way, and after 70m go L into a cul-de-sac and take the path in the L corner between numbers 21 and 22 to reach Etsome Terrace. Go ahead (slightly R) and at the T-junction turn R to reach the Fire Station. Go R (with care) along Behind Berry and pass the back of St Dunstan’s Catholic Church (the front faces Langport Road). Just beyond house number 100, turn L down a short, narrow path to Langport Road, turn R and after 100m just beyond Russet Road fork R along a footpath into Bancombe Road. After 500m go L into Parklands Way, then R into Orchard Road. Just before the last house on the L go along tarmac path, past a play area to reach and cross a cul-de-sac and reach another cul-de-sac. Here, turn L follow the road and turn R by number 45 and at the end go through the squeeze to reach a track. Go L and follow 100m to reach Langport Road, go L and L again into Westholm Road. Follow as it bears R and take the tarmac path between numbers 11& 12 to another path then go R to reach Langport Road. Go R 185m then L into Sillé le Guillaume Way and follow for 200m past skate park. At the children’s playground, go L along tarmac path towards the Sports Club buildings and just beyond tennis courts go R to emerge in a cul-de-sac. Go ahead 70m to T-junction and turn R into Sevenacres. After 150m at St. Cleers, go ahead, but turn L into a cul-de-sac opposite the St Cleers Orchard sign. Turn R beyond the garage bearing the number 78 and follow the path straight across a crossroads of paths, across a road and then turn L by a street light and follow the path in front of a row of bungalows with the railway line on R. When the path joins a road, continue ahead for 250m and at the end turn R into St Cleers Way. In 120m at the cross-roads, go ahead with care into Polham Lane and shortly after St Cleers Chapel the road bears sharp L. At the next junction, bear L and immediately sharp L before a house called Rosenheim along a path by a stream to reach a slab stile. Turn R and then L into Tom Tits Lane. Where road bears round R, turn L along a tarmac path and at railing at the end, turn R and after 30m turn L over a slab stile by an electricity pole/street light. Follow this narrow path to reach 4 steps down to Gassons Lane. Turn R and proceed with care past the end of New Cross and 50m beyond, take path on R to Maypole Knap. At end of path, turn L, then R beyond number 54 and take another path in the far L corner to regain Langport Road. Turn R and immediately fork R into West End. At the grass triangle, bear L into Camden Road, then L again into Camden Orchard, bearing L to reach path by number 8. At the next road turn L and go ahead by number 16 to reach Langport Road. Turn R and R again at the mini-roundabout and after 200m take the path opposite the Veterinary Surgery. At King Ina Road go ahead and bear R beyond number 16. Do not cross the railway bridge, but follow path above the railway to emerge at a kissing gate by the car park.
