Leave car park, turn L into West Street and immediately L through the kissing gate to follow path alongside the railway cutting for 300m as far as Behind Berry opposite the cemetery. Go L for 70m then R along Pinewood and after 400m at the T-junction turn L into Beech Grove with good views over the fishing lakes and along the Cary valley. After 250m proceed ahead into Cary Way and where the houses end by the school, go straight ahead and follow this level road with excellent views across to Copley Wood and Gilling Down, with its coloured strata. After 1Km the road starts to descend and 500m further crosses over the River Cary. After 20m go L (SP Public Footpath) cross a small footbridge and continue along the left hand edge of the field close to the River Cary where a variety of wildlife can be seen. After 1.4Km reach a tarmac road at Somerton Door Bridge and continue (SP Pitney Steart Bridge 1m) with the river on L for 1.9Km to pass Park Bridge (with no side walls) and continue close to the river to a Bristol gate to reach a track. Almost immediately turn L across Pitney Steart Bridge and follow the tarmac lane for 750m to a T-junction by a pond in the hamlet of Park. Turn L (SP Somerton) and follow the straight, level road with more fine views across the Cary valley 1.6Km to Wild Meadow Farm. The road now bends and starts to climb. After 400m ignore the L turn to Somerton Door but proceed another 700m up the hill and at the top take the sharp R turn (SP Westcombe). After 250m turn L at junction and proceed 350m to a T-junction. Go straight ahead into broad grassy track between houses on L and hedge on R for 200m to reach another gate then a tarmac track for 250m to emerge on to Langport Road opposite the Recreation Ground. Turn L and continue 400m to the junction at Russett Road and turn L into Northfield for 20m then R into Behind Berry. After 400m at junction by Fire Station turn R for 60m, cross with care and bear L at the mini-roundabout to reach The Triangle, West Street and the car park.
